September Meeting Recap

For our September meeting we ventured into the wild, untamed north. Or Fishers, depending on how you want to look at it. We met at Quilt Expressions and had a great time showing off our finished Round Robins and learning more about free motion quilting with Amy Garro.

This month was the finish of the Round Robin that Meghan put so much energy into organizing. Everyone was so thrilled with how their finished pieces turned out and it was a great way to meet and learn a little more about each other. A huge thank you to Meghan for making this such a success!

Holly didn't want to see hers in progress and was so excited with how it turned out.

Molly was tickled pink with hers. Yes, that was a terrible pun.

Susan's slashed center took on a new life with the borders that were added.

Leah's quilt seemed very appropriate for the season...

While Hope's had us dreaming of the beach...

And Chris's made us feel like May!

Lisa's moth center was beautifully enhanced with the work surrounding it.

After our show and tell we all got down to the business at hand - learning how to free motion quilt with Amy! Amy has been very busy recently, working on quilts for magazines and her original patterns, and having her spend some time teaching was very appreciated. Some members of the group had never FMQed before and some were looking for tips and techniques to improve what they were already doing. We all came away with some wonderful new insights and inspiration. Thanks Amy!

Watching intently...

Darcie seems pretty pleased with her FMQ sample while Jennie maintains focus.

Lisa is rocking the quilting gloves.

Molly and Amy get to grips with her machine.

A great time was had by all who attended. Thanks to Quilt Expressions for being such wonderful hosts!
