January Meeting Recap

Let us start out by first thanking our speaker Amanda Castor from Material Girl Quilts, for joining us this month to talk about quilting, pre-cuts, disappearing nine patch, and half square triangles.   If you did not get to join us for the meeting or would like to check out Amanda's work/business her blog is available at http://materialgirlquilts.wordpress.com/
Also thanks so much to our friends at Crimson Tate for promoting, hosting and providing the programming for this months meeting it was super fun, we are excited for the future meetings to come.   In March we'll return to the RADC space beside Crimson Tate for another guest speaker Sonia Robinson who will be talking about modern hand quilting, piecing and stitching!
We started the meeting with a little plug about membership for 2014, just a reminder for that membership dues for 2014 are being accepted currently and this gets you free meetings/events for 2014 and membership to our parent guild the Modern Quilt Guild, as well as other great benefits check out our membership page for more details.
We then introduced our presenter Amanda Castor, who shared her experiences with quilting as well as some exciting things to come, and only like 9 million ways to use half square triangles and pre-cuts.
We also had an awesome show and tell with all the fun project everyone is working on and have been completing lately - some photos are below).  Tisha got to take home the stash box (the stash box is a box where you share your modern quilting stash and other's share theirs with you).
The meeting wrapped up with announcements about our next Meeting Feb 22, where we will have a tutorial on binding as well as time to work on star blocks for the astronaut challenge (more details to come in a later post).
Now for some snaps from this month.  Let me first apologize for the quality (I forgot my real camera yet again).
