February 2014 IMQG Meeting Recap

  • Membership -Lisa provided a membership update regarding the latest membership numbers (25 I think) and distributed the MQG membership cards, which will be distributed quarterly.
  • Amendment to bylaws - Katie discussed the need for the bylaws to be amended in the wake of the dual memberships questions posed, about membership in other guilds.  Several members had already signed up for the MQG as well as other local guilds and there were questions about how this impacted their membership to IMQG. The proposed bylaw wording was read and then a vote was taken passing 9 of 9 members present.  New wording is as follows (bylaws document will be updated soon):
Article III Membership:
Section 1 Active Members
New section -
g. Membership is not transferable from another local guild modern, traditional, or otherwise.
h.  Independent members of the Modern Quilt Guild, are not considered members of the Indy Modern Quilt Quild without payment of annual IMQG dues and completion of them IMQG membership form.   Annual dues are not prorated based on membership with another guild or the Modern Quilt Guild.

  • Survey for Charity Quilt - Tisha shared that there currently was a tie for the Charity Quilt and that a second poll will likely be created with only those winning charity options.  More details will follow.
  • Challenge - Rachael presented details of the new MQG challenge with Michael Miller.  We had very little warning of this upcoming challenge and a quick turnaround we are hoping to have the fabric to distribute for the March meeting if you cannot pick it up there please get with Rachael regarding pick-up.  We took sign-ups at the meeting only members are eligible to sign-up at this time and the sign-ups will only remained open until 2/25.
