IMQG Charity Quilt 2015

For the 2015 IMQG Charity Quilt, we would like to make two lap sized quilts (as opposed to one big one that we have done in the past) for the kids at Riley Children’s Hospital. Here are a few details:

Quilts: 2 Lap sized Quilts (one boy and one girl)

  • Blocks: Low Volume Plus Blocks
    • Block: We are using Lindsay's Low Volume Plus Block tutorial for this block. (Clink link above to find the tutorial) This block is perfect for pulling fabric from your stash!
    • Colors: Just like Lindsay's tutorial, scrappy low volume for the background, and bold/bright single-color print for the "plus" sign.
    • Fabric: Only modern fabric please (i.e. no batiks, civil war prints, and limited novelty prints).
    • Keep in mind we would like to make one boy and one girl quilt when choosing fabric.
    • Here are a few examples of the blocks:

  • Deadlines:
    • October Meeting: Blocks completed and turned in.
      • You may turn in blocks at any of the August, September, or October meetings, but final blocks are due no later than October.
      • According to Linday's instructions, 30 blocks = 1 Lap Quilt, so we will need 60 blocks total for this project.
    • November Meeting: Finished quilt tops due and given to quilters.
    • December Meeting: Quilts Completed!
    • A note on deadlines: we would like to finish these quilts by December meeting, while also giving ample amounts of time for each task. With that said, the deadlines are flexible, feel free to email the guild if you have any questions along the way. If needed, we can aid in transporting the quilts from one volunteer to the next!
  • Volunteers:
    • We will need lots of volunteers to complete our goal!!
    • We will need volunteers for block makers, top makers, quilters, and binders.
    • If you would like to volunteer for a specific task, please email the guild so that we can organize everyone. www.indymodernquiltguild@gmail.com
    • If you just want to make blocks, feel free to bring them along to one of the 3 meetings we'll be collecting blocks.
